Safari on Windows

Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Umm. okay what an interesting experience.
On monday, Jobs announced Safari for windows. I was like "Oh! Cool" went over to apple.com/safari and downloaded the client. used it for about 20 minutes. Jobs said that Safari was like 1.8+ x faster than firefox and 4.8x than internet explorer. Okay Jobs how accurate are your stats when it took like 2 minutes to load the browser in the first place. then you click twice and it crashed. loaded it again to try again. it loads start page in like 2 minutes: WOW! no let's go to facebook... hmm pretty slow ... I open up firefox open up a few tabs and i get better time, mind you I didn't delete cookies and cache but still. Safari crashed on me a few times. So I said to myself, screw this ... i am happy with FF, no point switching to Safari. I understand that Safari is still a Beta but the Firefox beta was much smoother and faster. I am really not impressed with Apple on this one.
Conclusion: Installed and uninstalled in 20 minutes. I think Safari on Windows only works well if you have certain specs.

P.S. I am not the only Windows user who thought this was a load of shit.

VA Tech Shooting Aftermath Pt.1

Monday, April 23, 2007
It has been a week since Cho Seung-Hui has killed thirty two students and one staff member of Virginia Tech. Since then physchologists, analyitics, politicians and members of the media have been trying to point fingers at the trigger of the event.
My take on this. What's the point of trying to figure out why, when no matter what these types of actions will still occur. The circumstances don't matter, these actions still occur. Many people can link it to bullying. Although, the latter has might have a major factor it is not the sole reason. The biggest link that connect the ___ in the events is the fact that they were all mentally ill.
One thing that can be done to prevent other events from similar to these ones from happening are to change what we have done in the past. I would be lying if I said that we have changed some of our ways and this has helped in producing less school shootings because the number of shootings per year are increasing, and at a relatively fast one at that.
One thing that really ticks me off in this event, is the amount media attention there has been on it. This does not help the cause. In fact, it aggravates it. When Cho Seung Hui sent his media package to the television station. He was making a cry of attention. As described by his fellow students and teachers, he was a loner. The guy who didn't say a word and sat in the back. He was known as "?". In the past week, the headlines were always descibing something about the shooting. News channels featured the media package on their websites and on air, basically doing what Seung Hui wanted them to do. The channels were controlled by Hui in the same was as the students feared him when he held a gun in his hand.
This brings me to my next point. People are going crazy about how 33 people died when they forget that across the pond onto Middle Eastern countries, hundreds of innocent people are killed. Then those people say things like: "Well the shootings here were unnessecary deaths!" Well, so are the deaths of the innocent victims in Iraq and Afghanistan. Whose numbers total up to much much more than those victims in the United States.

PART II to come soon.

And I am not a cold hearted person. I am just here to open the eyes of those who are asleep.

Akon Molests 14 yr old Girl on Stage

Saturday, April 21, 2007
Akon, rapper of such songs as Mr. Lonely, Smack That and other songs recently molsted a 14 year old girl at a show in Trinidad. He said that he was hosting a contest where the winner would win a trip to Africa. The winner would be chosen by who ever could best dance like a whore; to say in plain words.
Here is an article which best describes what happend, it also inculdes a video. There is also the follow-up article which discusses more about the girl and her identity.

Please discuss.
Akon's actions prove again that many rappers are demeaning to women. His "dance" with the girl was not appropriate under any circumstances. Akon is not entirely to blame seeing that the concert was held in a venue that was 18+ and you must be 18+ to buy the tickets and so on. The girl didn't even dress like a 14 year old, but still ... his actions are still uncalled for.

The Departed Review

On Friday night I watched this Oscar winning film. It was a good movie but not as good as Infernal Affairs (the movie which it is based on). Infernal Affairs is a Hong Kong made movie which was really good. The Departed basically americanized it. Parts where changed to make it worse. The message which was trying to be said was better done in Infernal Affairs. I reccommend seeing Infernal Affairs first, then The Departed. It is hard to describe the differences and stuff like that without giving away the movie. The acting was good. I found that the music they used didn't really suit the movie.

I don't think that this film deserved to win Best Picture at the Oscars. I would give this movie 7/10 because it was a good movie but not higher because there were some differences between the original and this one that are not forgiving, and a few things like that.

Élection Provinciale

Monday, March 26, 2007
What do y'all think will happen?

I am definetly going for a minority government.
Who will be the leader, I am guessing it will be a close call. The surveys done in the past week all indicate a close call. But the more recent one done, shows the PLQ with 34% of the vote. I think that the PLQ WILL win, just because it is the best of the worse. The PQ is either going to make it or break it with the referendum, and although I personally find that Mario Dumont to be the strongest leader, will not be the Premier Ministre because he has no party; like Boisclair said he is a "one man show".

Comment please before the results are in preferably!

Charlevoix 2

Sunday, March 25, 2007
Next morning wake up, go to the same restaurant to eat a buffet breakfast. Soo good. I think the best part of the buffet is the crêpes cooked with maple butter...mmm. go back to the room, pack up and drive up to Le Massif, which btw is the National Skiing Training Facility, so woot! since there was a snow storm on saturday, there was quite a lot of powder on the hills.. yay! i love pow. the weather wasn't so great, pretty cloudy and very windy so it quite a short ski day.
go back to the hotel, get changed and go into the pool... woot warm outdoor pool! stay in the pool for like 2 hours. get out get changed go to supper at the **** restaurant. come back up to the room pay 14$ to watch Casino Royale, sleep.

Charlevoix 1

Well actually the story starts on Saturday when there was a "snow storm" here it wasn't so bad because I was able to go to Neon to get myself a pair of jeans and to check out American Apparel. But in the Charlevoix region it was a massive snow storm. We pack up the Camry, Sunday morning and we leave home at about 2:20 and take a stop at a gas station in Québec Village. I take some shots there and notice a skier crossing the body of water between Île Orléan and Québec, so that was interesting. Then after we leave the région of Québec the scenic routes start to unveil, take out my camera and take some shots from the car for the rest of the ride. The view is sooo nice. The mountain tops, the forest, the snow, the everything is beautiful. We get to the ***** hotel at about 6:30 make it close to exactly 4 hours of road time. I've been to that hotel a few times before and it is beautiful. The place is huge not tall but very wide and long... and what's crazy is that the place was not constructed to be a hotel but for a private club for the rich people. in the evening we go to the **** restaurant in the hotel, order some food... very good by the way, go the room and sleep.

Casino Royale

This movie is way overrated. The acting is good. Daniel Craig is actually a good Bond, I'd say one of the best since Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan was just a pretty boy. One of the things that make this movie overrated is that this movie has no plot. or at least it has somewhat of a plot until after the poker game. they should have ended the movie there even though it would leave a blank space and a wanting more, at least i wouldn't have wasted an extra 45 mins of my life. right after the poker game everything goes on a tagent and there is no consistency. another thing was that there was no point to the aston martin db9 s.e. for a few reasons. 1. there is no car chase in this movie. it is 30 seconds of a car moving and then the car being destroyed. 2. the defibilirator (forget how to spell that word) is not meant to be self-adminstrated. and anyways what kind of car has the above mentioned gadget.
what i liked about the movie, there were some scenes where you can see some really nice views of different countries in which they filmed. There weren't many gadgets which what killed Die Another Day (after Halle Berry), although the movie was missing a trademark watch.

Overall I rank this movie not higher than 4/10, I would also say that it is equivalent to Die Another Day, D.A.D had too many impossible scenes but at least it had a flowing plot.

Louis: RE: what kind of bond marries? ... Bond has already married a woman but only for three hours or something small like that. In From Russia With Love, he marries a woman, and she is assassinated, if I recall correctly they were either in a pictuesque scene in a car overlooking some mountains OR during a car scene where they are doing a race in a with other beat up cars in slippery conditions, in any case she is shot. and Bond was married, but not married in this one.

Little Miss Sunshine

WOW! I saw this movie last friday (March 16) and I was totally amazed by it. The plot is so simple yet the directors and the whole crew involved in it made it so good.
It talks about a little girl who wants to participate in a beauty contest called Little Miss Sunshine. To participate in this contest they must go to California which is about 2 days travel from where they live. To make this trip, the whole family has to travel with her, (you have to see it to fully understand goes there are many links that are a little complicated). Basically what you see in the movie is how the family struggles to make it to the contest on time( and there are MANY). Most of the setbacks are quite amusing, and make the movie a feel-good one. The actors in this movie aren't really famous except for Steve Carell and Paul Dano. Even though all the actors were perfectly chosen because the actors act the characters perfectly. The actors do such a good job that you actually get attached to some of these characters. I rate this movie 10/10. This was really good, and I am dissapointed that it didn't win the Best Picture are the Oscars over a film that didn't even have an original screenplay.
